This is my first attmept at dying fabric with Koolaid. I had seen hand-dyed fabrics on the web and wanted some, but found the prices to be too high. Here's my answer to high prices!!!

I found instructions on the web for doing this, and printed out two different methods. One was for dissolving the powder in water and then squirting it on the fabric with a turkey baster, and the other was for sprinkling the powder directly on the fabric. I chose the "sprinkle method", since I don't have a spare turkey baster lying around.
Here's what I did: I bought a packet of "Ice Blue" Koolaid, and a piece of white Charlescraft 28ct Evenweave 100% cotton fabric. I first soaked the fabric in 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of vinegar. Then squeezed the extra liquid out, laid it on an old (dark) bathsheet, and sprinkled the powder directly on the fabric. I let it sit for a few minutes, then stuck it in a casserole dish, and nuked it for 2.5 minutes in the microwave. I let it sit for 2-3 minutes, then nuked it again for 2.5 minutes. Then I rinsed it 3 times in cold water, until the water ran clear. Then I let it dry a bit, and then ironed it dry the rest of the way. Supposedly this will be colorfast now.
